Geoff wrote: Thu Apr 04, 2019 4:05 pm There's an article in the most recent issue of CLR about an ex-SEB 2A 6-cylinder One-Ton 109 that still has its hydraulic winch.
Yes indeed, I wrote it.

Re: Southern Electric Stage 1 V8s

I've seen similar mountings on other land rovers and on the UAZ, so hard to say. Although I've seen winches for sale I've never seen the mounts.

Re: Southern Electric Stage 1 V8s

By this time I dont think SEB were fabbing them up, the kit was bought in. The winch I think is a Ramsey DC-200 same as used on the UAZ, presumably electric drive. Ladder rack I think was ally.

Re: Southern Electric Stage 1 V8s

Yes it is. Sadly way out of my current budget. Lovely truck though. Issue with these is where would you get the roof rack, winch and bumper from?

This is LDP498W recovered from the river.

It was refurbished and put back to work.

Sadly I know nothing about it beyond what you see in the photos.

Re: Southern Electric Stage 1 V8s

Further, I found this photo recently. http://i875.photobucket.com/albums/ab317/DJW2009uk/leccy/s1v8_zps2suopvob.jpg And found at least one of these beasts has survived. http://i875.photobucket.com/albums/ab317/DJW2009uk/leccy/10906380_10152947578961154_454607623184297301_n_zpsbcpywckh.jpg http://i87...

Re: Southern Electric Stage 1 V8s

I am told that the vehicle in the river is actually LDP498W as shown in the initial post, I have some more photos on-way to me.

I did contact them with the pics which were printed in a follow-up article in the next issue.

Stage 1 V8 6x6 Cherrypicker

Now here we have something special, a genuine ex-SEB Stage 1 V8 cherrypicker. Surely if any of them ought to be preserved/restored it would be this one? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Land-Rover-Cherry-Picker-1984-6x6-3-6L-V8-Blue-/251578122909?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item3a9339829d http://onetonl...

Re: 3 tonne station wagon

What colour is it? if pale green it could well be an ex SEB one (see my recent posts on that subject) which may well have had a higher gross weight, they were also converted to USW spec.

Re: Southern Electric Stage 1 V8s

I managed to find a couple of photos of one of the V8 utility wagons in service, although I have no idea as to the identity or fate of it, the front looks quite smashed in. http://i875.photobucket.com/albums/ab317/DJW2009uk/leccy/13668717955_c67ff39c78_o_zpsa8247dc5.jpg http://i875.photobucket.com/a...

Interesting, however UC is a London plate and that was built white by the looks of it, probably ex-Police.

Re: Diecast or model Stage 1

I think Verem or Solido did a V8 Fire engine but that is only one I ever saw, sold for silly money on ebay last time I saw one and was about 1:43 scale.

Re: Southern Electric Stage 1 V8s

Yes I have seen that on ebay a couple of times, doesn't seem to sell. No evidence it is ex-SEB though, I understand the hardtop sides were fitted by a previous owner. Very nice motor all the same.
