I usually run my tyres at 30psi all round. It does state in the handbook to run 7.50's at 25psi all round unladen. but if you go upto speeds of 70mph,
it states to run at higher pressures which is 32psi.

I normally put in 15w-40 mineral in my V8 and it seems to go fine on this oil. I put in Texaco Havoline 15-40 in it cos its a good price here, and its recommended in the land rover handbook.

the pattern is the same as the goodyear tyres used by the army when they used series 3. My brother has off roaded with these tyres as have I and they are pretty good for off roading.

In my handbook which is for the european market, for the 8.13 V8 its
6degrees BTDC dynamically at 650rpm, the book states it must be set at 650rpm for correct ignition timing. My V8 runs fine on unleaded which is 95RON in the UK.

I want to keep the vehicle original if i can. but if all else fails, would putting a pair of SU's a good bet on the V8? I know these don't have a rubber diaphragm like the Strombergs.

I think the timing is set to 6 BTdC and the V8 idle is pretty smooth. The spark plugs are black and sooty, no ajustment will change the colour. its supposed to be a tan/beige colour which is correct mixture. The Land Rover was built in 1982, does age have any bearing on the carbs? its onlt done 82,0...
