Started the landy up today and let it warm up.
Revved the V8 up and the needle on the pressure
gauge did move though not much. Is it not changing
the oil for last 2 years, 2000 miles since last oil
change making pressure low?

oil pressure

there was a leak on the engine, the front axle was wet, the oil pressure switch was leaking so I replaced that. the green oil pressure light goes out soon it fires up, but my pressure gauge is reading very low at idling speed, just off the white mark and doesn't move very much when revved up a bit. ...

well which engine spec do you have? There are two:
Detoxed and non-detoxed. The detoxed engine has
the hotter thermostat which is 88 degrees C. the non-
detoxed engines have the 82 degrees C stat. so I would
check engine numbers to be sure!!

you might have a problem there. genuine oil coolers
fitted to stage 1s had a different grille fitted and a
opening at bottom of grille near front bumper next
to the starting handle hole.

Engine oil

I've been using Texaco Havoline 15w40 oil in my Stage1
V8. It uses a bit if oil. I wondered if it was too thin for
this engine? Any advice please?

I have a set of 16" rims which are the original type
LWB steel rims. I have Goodyear Wrangler Radials
in 7.50R16 size. I 've found they are very quiet on
the road, the gearbox whines more than anything!

will the weber 4 barrell carb be ok for a Stage 1?
was wondering whether it'll make the engine too
powerful for the drum brakes? my stage 1 is all
original.
