A few thoughts: When I headed off to uni (St. Andrews), my mother suggested I sell my Stage 1 (as some of you will remember - is the current owner on here, perchance?), I took her advice, as she certainly had my best interests at heart. Within a week of uni, I missed my wheels, and so bought another...

I guess it depends on what sort of price you can do them for - as far as I remember they're the same as the Triumph 2000 boot (that is, 'trunk') lock. How easy to get hold of they are, I don't know.

Yep, Pageant blue - I had an MGB GT in the same colour, and it looks ok on them (late 70s cars anyway). I can't decide if I like it on the Landrover or not. I shall be going to down to Carlisle on Saturday to pick it up, and them bringing it back to St. Andrews (I'm at the university here). I though...

My new Station Wagon! (Soon anyway.)

I must be addicted: no sooner have I sold my first Stage 1 than I buy another. I have found the Stage 1 I was originally looking for, a station wagon; and at a very decent price. It will come with 12 months MoT, 12 months tax, an LPG kit to fit, and a few spare parts. Here are a few pics to whet you...

A bit of an update: I have sold my Stage 1 hardtop, but do not worry that I have fallen from the faith: I am negotiating the purchase of a lovely Stage 1 station wagon, which was, of course, what I was originally looking for. Not perfectly straight, but should be with a year's MoT, and quite cheap. ...

Didn't realise you'd had a Landy before - the first Landrover I ever bought was a 1979 Rangie. It was gorgeous, and I loved it, but it failed its MoT (our annual roadworthiness test) on items that would need 1000£'s worth of work; the really depressing thing was that the garage hadn't picked up on t...

Hi Dave, and welcome to the forum. Sounds like an interesting project you've got going there. Post up some pics, and we can do our best to help you through the treacherous morass that is Landrover ownership!

Some thoughts: Backfiring is usually due to timing, and this would be my first guess if it happens on both LPG and petrol. LPG can give spark leads a hard time - when you replaced them, did you use quality silicone items? If not, is possible the leads broke down very quickly - I have heard of this h...

Not quite, Larry - though one of those would be useful.

Hmmm - I hadn't heard that, but given you did the swap yourself, I'm certainly not going to argue. On the upside, and to keep this thread going: a friend of mine is breaking a manual V8 Disco, so I have the LT77; assuming Jonnyboy's right about the gearbox being the same unit as the transferbox, I'l...

Just a couple of quick Qs. Did you run the engine before you fitted the S/H gearbox? If so, did it sound different? Just to be clear, is it the same sound on both petrol on gas? A good way to test the ignition side of the engine is to buy some of those things that fit between the spark plug and the ...

Progress on Painting...

Hi guys - I realise I haven't been around for a while (took a holiday), but progress on the old Landy has been made: dents have been filled, trim (what little there exists on a Landrover) has been removed; and with the primer on it is now ready for topcoat. Have a look... http://i193.photobucket.com...
