I was only going to buy the Common module and one of the plating kits (hadn't decided which finish to use yet). The platers that are local are quite expensive and don't really like dealing with lots of small components. In fact, unless you fill a plating basket, they charge full whack anyway. I was ...

Electroplating components

I have been looking at the following home electroplating kit from Frosts: Frost Electroplating Module You can get various modules to plate in zinc, nickel, yellow passivate, olive drab etc. It looks like the perfect bit of kit for restoring my stage 1 to a condition that'll resist corrosion a little...

No. Just need to know if a Station Wagon chassis is a direct replacement for the original one fitted under my hardtop truck.

I ended up making myself one also. I'm not sure I'd pay £75 for one, but I'm a tight sod! They don't seem to be available very often and when I do see them, they're usually firmly attached to a 90 or 110! :x There is one still attached to the dumped Stage 1 at Bala though (well it was still there in...

Just checked the parts catalogue and there are 2 different part numbers: NRC2450 - [Truck] NRC2622 - Station Wagon Surely there is more difference than a couple of brackets? Or am I giving LR too much credit! Mine is a windowed hardtop and therefore doesn't have tailgate brackets anyway. Isn't there...

Chassis differences - SW and Truck

This is probably covered already on here somewhere, but I'll ask anyway.

Is there a fundamental difference between the chassis fitted to Station Wagons and Truck body 109 V8's?

If so, what is the difference and can one be modified to the other spec?

WANTED - Truck Chassis

Been away for a while and concentrating on a Range Rover, but the time has come again to get the Stage 1 sorted or get rid (my heart says no to this option!). Problem is that the Chassis is kaput. So need a new one. I'm looking for a straight, sound chassis that doesn't need too much work. Long shot...

Don't have an answer for you, but I ordered this part some time back from LR and they'd upgraded the pipe part to an alternative 1 piece on their computer (complete clutch pipe like 110). They had to trawl back through the parts catalogues to find the right bit. So try and identify it in the parts c...

I had thought about the very same conversion, but the braking issue was what always put me off.

It certainly is something big to consider when doing such an automatic gearbox mod and the cost of disc brake upgrades is massive.

I bought a pattern tank about 12 years ago. It was probably a Britpart item. Painted it properly and covered it in copious amounts of Waxoyl and haven't had a problem with it. It was certainly better than the LR "sieve" it replaced. :) At the end of the day, if it holds fuel and doesn't ru...

I've not got round to spraying the body on mine, but I reckon that a set of those stickers would be the perfect finishing touch. So count me as an interested party also for a set of copies.

Haven't got time to check, but have a look at the link on here to the LR manuals. The SIII parts catalogue is on there and I'm sure the Series III diesel tank is indeed the same part number as a Stage 1 tank.

olliebarrett, can I ask how much you paid? I've never thought of using Carparts direct for Landrover parts. They're only 5 mins down the road from me (I drive past them every morning on way to work). They have been very good in the past for getting rare Mazda parts and cheap Vauxhall parts. One down...

Hex,

could do with a "How To" on the grinding down the RR one. Don't suppose you took any photos to illustrate?

These parts were hard to find 10 years ago when I did mine. Sounds like nothing has improved (and never will).

Alessandro, Mine never had any insulation, but I had considered fitting some, or even cover the underside with reflective foil. I always considered the heat from the gearbox tunnel as secondary heating, and in the winter was very grateful for it. But in summer, it could make the interior quite unple...
