On the topic of oil, its been recommended to me, by various sources that the V8 doesn't really like anything but high detergent mineral oils EG classic GTX. Anyone else heard this? On the subject of hard to remove paint...you could try swilling it around with brake fluid and then giving it a damn go...

If it goes as soon as pressure is put on the clutch then its probably the thrust bearing. Most older cars I've had do it. Wouldn't worry too much until its noisy when you change gear.. :shock:

Power steering box

Mine is on its way out and i have a choice of buying a new box (£100) or getting a service kit for £16.

Going back to the original query.. I paid just over £900 inc VAT for my conversion using 2 x 45 ltr tanks. Mine are stowed in the jerry can lockers of my ex MOD. unless its very cold mine starts on gas OK. If I don't use the petrol for a while she will splutter like a goodun' and burn very rich but ...

Carb problem

I have a problem with my carbs!! When on LPG- no probs! When I go onto petrol the old girl splutters like a goodun' and the exhaust is pumping out a lot of black stuff. When I turn the petrol off (I need to empty the carbs of petrol when changing back to gas) after a few seconds she runs beautifully...

I have 2 x 45 litre tanks in the Jerrycan side lockers fitted to Ex MOD 110's
The non-side locker types have the same space, but empty :D

I ditched mine for an electric fan (Well its still in the shed with the cowling) With time they 'stiffen up'. You should be able to stop the fan quite easily when its running (Very dangerous, silly, and do it at your own risk) but its how my semi-tame mechanic tested it :shock: Anyway, i chaged mine...
