I use a big copper hammer, this will not damage the drum or cause splinters.

Hi,
I have not seen springs wrapped up on landrovers, I just paint on old engine oil to mine to keep them lubricated, as for tyres I always use 750XR16 the range avalible is still vast if you shop arround.

2 stage 1 s have just passed on e-bay for less than £600 if you have space then this is the best type of parts store, but if you are like me you would get it home and fall in love and another project is born!

Good idea. You can get the carb kits from craddocks, there are 2 types of kit one has more parts than the other althrough you will need both for a strip down of each carb, you will end up with some duplicated items for spares. you will also need a steel ruler to set the float height. Could it be fuel related?
Is the pump running ok?
Have you checked both fuel fillters?
Are the float chambers filling as required?

I had overheating because of the back plate of the water pump being corroded thus reducing the flow rate of the water.

give the radiator a good looking at, it can "steam" but not drip onto the floor, also check if there is white emulsified oil under your oil filler cap.
