Re: High Torque Starter motors - Experience???

I've had a high torque starter fitted for over 5 years now. No problems at all. Took a while to get used to the weird (compared to the original starter) noise that it makes !

Re: Overdrive help

Concur with what Map1275 says. As well as the gaskets, its worth changing the oil seal on the actuating lever.

Re: LT95 Ratios

Long silence while I got this one sorted ...... and a cautionary tale. As it turns out, there's nothing wrong with the transfer box ratios. As fitting the recon LT95 box was the only thing (as I thought) that had changed, I jumped to the conclusion that the symptoms described earlier were the result...

Re: LT95 Ratios

While I pretty much agree with you, this is a daily driver and I need a working vehicle on the road with minimal interruption. It was off the road for 2 weeks getting this far.
I'll be speaking to the supplier tomorrow, in any case.

Re: Overdrive Oil Leak

Firemanshort - Rovers Down South seem to have gone off the net. Do you have an email address for them by any chance - or a 'phone number ?
Many thanks.

Re: LT95 Ratios

I've raised this over on the LR4x4 Forum as well. The consensus over there is that (given that the serial number on the casing - 13C - is correct for a 110) the transfer box ratios may have been swapped out for Range Rover ones at some stage in its life and that the reconditioner would just have rep...

LT95 Ratios

I have recently had to replace the LT95 on my 1983 110 V8 (transfer box decided to eat itself after shedding most of its oil on a long run). Finding a reconditioned box in UK - or a firm prepared to recondition my old box) - took a while, as the LT95 is increasingly rare but eventually I sourced a r...

Re: Overdrive Oil Leak

Thanks gentlemen !

And for the doubters - mine is a August 1983 110 (one of the very first V8s). It has a lot in common with the Stage One and rather less with Defenders !

Overdrive Oil Leak

I am experiencing a small oil leak from the Fairey overdrive on my LT95. Symptoms: - When the box is cold, there is no leak - Once up to driving temperatures, there is a persistent slight leak which appears to be coming from where the actuating rod enters the casing. - Every time I change the overdr...

Re: Overdrive Operating Lever

That's ebay for you. I picked a time when I was pitching at a potential market of one ! Mind you, postage to Oz bumped the cost up a bit.

Re: Newby Question: What is wrong with the LT95?

Nothing wrong with the LT95 as far as I'm concerned (1983 110 V8). Even before I fitted an overdrive it would cruise on motorways very comfortably at legal speeds and still have enough grunt to overtake. The O/D lowers the revs required to achieve this, reduces noise and fuel consumtion - but doesn'...
