Wow. Could that be the oldest surviving 127? I've never seen one with two piece doors before. I hope those rear doors are OK, I don't think you will easily find any replacements if the frames have rusted. Fabulous vehicle, I want it. Looks like an ex Southern Electricity vehicle - I used to own a SE...

There's one on Ebay at the moment with a galv chassis and bulkhead. Buy It Now price is £3K. Will be interesting to see what it makes: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=330286082610 I reckon that's a bargain. With all the stuff on it, you could break it for spares and still ge...

Sounds like you have either got a piece of dirt in the connector, or you have overtightened it and cracked the filter housing. If the latter, PM me, I have one attached to a bulkhead. I robbed the filter bowl off it for another vehicle, and it isn't much use to me as it is.

Michael, I think yours was worse. At least this one didn't need the rear body reconstructing, but everything else on it was bad. Engine had a hole in the block, gearbox jumped out of gear, the interior was totally trashed because it had been left in the open for ten years with no door tops (they had...

Richard, Do you have a picture of GOX 550W that you could post up or email to me? Thanks for your reply, Matt. Sorry, my scanner is not working at the moment. There is a very good site which has lots of Land Rover brochures including the one I have, but the page with GOX on it has not been included...

That reg number made me sit up sharply. I was sure I had seen it before... sadly not quite, but GOX 550W (also white, but a hard top, in Police livery) appears in the 1982 Land Rover Series range brochure. Another white Police hard top, SNX 568X, features on the front cover of the brochure. NX is a ...

Hi Seb

Was it you who rang the other day and spoke to my colleague Craig? If so, sorry I didn't send you any pictures but I lost your details. I have a couple of photos which might be useful - PM me your email address and I'll send them over to you.

Stromberg (Zenith) carbs can be a bit fiddly to set up, but I have never had a high HC problem with them. Usually it is the CO reading that is difficult to get down to MOT level. The one problem the Strombergs suffer from quite frequently is that the rubber diaphragm under the dashpot cover splits. ...

All the ones I have seen have been Limestone. I recently broke an Inca Yellow vehicle  and that definitely had a Limestone top.

Dammit Nick, how come the conversion I did for you gives 17.5 mpg, but my own 110 V8 Hicap, using an almost identical setup, only does 11? Life is so unfair sometimes :)

109V8 speedo number should be 1376 - unique to this vehicle.

Hit the face of the drum - not the edge, and especially not the rim, with the biggest hammer you can find. Screw the wheel nuts a few turns onto the studs first, so you do not hit the ends of the studs and damage them. Even the most stubborn drum will 'bounce' free in the end. If it still does not s...

Re: SWivels

Well done Johnny. I need a pair of swivels.I dont think Series ones fit. I wonder if early R/Rover stuff might fit? Terry Hi Terry I might be able to help. I have just stripped a Stage One front axle for spares. The swivels are almost perfect - just a couple of tiny areas of pitting. Horribly expen...

Hicap launch date?

Does anyone know when the High Capacity Pickup was launched in the UK? I know it was some time in 1982. I have just acquired a rather rough but savable Hicap, registered 7th May 1982. It has a couple of unusual features (such as County cloth seats) and the chassis number is wrong for a Hicap (LBCAV ...
