Re: 3.5 carb to 4.6 conversion advice
Thankyou for the detailed feedback everyone. In the end I did buy the 4.6, its serial starts 46D and says CR is 35:1, from an automatic Range Rover. In pretty good condition aside from the cam which, as expected, is ruined. The idea of EFi was very short lived, given the complexity and cost. It woul...

3.5 carb to 4.6 conversion advice
The opportunity has arisen for me to get my hands on a 4.6 with ecu from an old range rover and the idea of dropping it into the stage 1 is enticing. However, I am aware of my own ignorance and therefore must ask for advice on the matter before I get too excited by extra displacement. What is involv...

Re: Ex army v8 ignition problems
Hi gents, Just updating on what I went with in the end. I failed to find a moderately priced and suitable robust charge equaliser, so I went down the route of charge reducer. Re: Ex army v8 ignition problems
So the guy at Pan Pacific basically told me dont bother with theirs its not up to the task in terms of robustness. Batterycell have a heavy duty charge reducer (https://www.thebatterycellonline.co.nz/product/VR030) but no longer sell that equaliser. TWL didnt have one either. Might look at getting o...

Re: Ex army v8 ignition problems
Thanks for the advice, I do know the local autosparky here has been fitting redarc units to fert trucks and had good things to say however given the expense involved I would rather go heavy duty once and never look at it again (hopefully).
I will call through the options today.
Cheers, Antony.

Re: Ex army v8 ignition problems
Hi gents, just tagging onto the bottom of this. I've got an ex NZDF stage 1 and intend to rip out the army system and replace it with the solution offered by Alan. Looking at the Redarc equalisers, what do you think is the lowest amps i could get away with?
