‘Soon” as in, this week?

Has anyone got a diagram with the chassis dimensions for the front of a V8? Mainly cross member location as mine has certainly crept a bit given the extent of the corrosion.

Re: Replacement brake servo

I ended up buying a STC2878 for some reason. The Clevis needs pinching which is easy enough but the 4 bolts holding it to the pedal tower are a different spacing so I welded a plate to the pedal tower and all is dandy. A nip in the inner wing was necessary too. Being 227mm dis it stops quite well.

Front 1/4 chassis supplier

Hi,

I need to replace the front 1/4 of the chassis. Does anyone know of any suppliers? I rang Richards and they don’t 1/2’s or 1/4’s.

The other option is a new set of S3 dumb irons with the V8 cross member repaired and reinstated.

Thanks,
Finn.

Front brake shoe supplier

Could anyone point me toward a supplier for decent front brake shoes?
I bought some Britpart ones and the performance is very poor, friction wise.
Yes, I've fixed everything else.
Thanks.

Re: Replacement brake servo

I've just looked a bit further at this & the STC1816 is the standard Series 2/3 6" servo. where the V8 (or mine is) has an 8" diameter servo. The type 50 is also 8" & discussed here: http://www.expeditionlandrover.info/dual_brake_conv.htm I'm not to keen on making the brakes w...

Replacement brake servo

What are folks doing for brake servos?

Suffice to say AEU1043 is not leaping out of the internet at me.

Will a Type 50 STC2878 (early 90/110) with the pedal end modified do the trick?

Re: Front brakes

That’s another good question.
I’m comparing back to back with the 4 cyl shoes & drums so I don’t see the servo as a factor at the moment.
Those adjuster bolts are rusted & seized so I might cut them off/drill & tap a new thread to insert stainless bolt & lock nut.

Re: Front brakes

So, I've finally put on the 3 inch shoes and drums. What a difference! - its shite! I was expecting them to take a few miles to bed in but I've done 300miles with some hard braking & "stoppies" to little avail. I removed the drum to inspect and was expecting to see a bit of uneven wear...
