Re: 88" Stage 1 (No Such Animal?)

OK, so they DO exist, I had heard, I've no real intereset in terms of owning one, [an 88 over a 109 that is] but I just liek to rivet-count once in a while

Re: 88" Stage 1 (No Such Animal?)

OK, my eyes do deceive. Yes, I liked the one ton axles bit, we've all got a stack of those at home. How many did you need?

Looks nice anyway, and frankly it'll find a buyer no doubt, many want an 88.

Re: 88" Stage 1 (No Such Animal?)

That did occur to me, so you confirm it is unlikely to be the 'real' deal 88 Stage 1? Only I'm still new and whilst I get the impression an 88 is a real rarity within what is already a rarity it could be possible. I was a bit dubious, description is a bit ambiguous, if I rivet count, it could be a t...

88" Stage 1 (No Such Animal?)

I want a 109 Stagey right now, and in my search I found a weird animal. I thought 88s where almost non-existant. I've read a few went to Triniadad, or somewhere very much not in the UK so... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=281158978132&fromMakeTrack=true&ssPageName=V...

Re: Newby Question: What is wrong with the LT95?

I'm no longer a Stagey virgin. I've been out in my first stagey. I have to say my one fear, that 50-60 mph it would be noisy was largely groundless. Didn't get it up to motorway speeds but it was very good. I may not have been long enough in it, but in a 10-15 min drive I saw no issue. I can see I'v...

Re: The Disc Brake Conversion

I don't want to shake the tree, but I've jsut spent a day at Leafers at T''pit and as it happens saw FenTiger's Zeus Disc Conversion fitted to a Stagey. Got chatting, he said it jsut 'fell-on' and the only issue was he was forced to use Wolf rims. http://www.zeus.uk.com/land-rover.php Now, I persona...

Re: Newby Question: What is wrong with the LT95?

I've just gone to look at the one on Ebay you put to me. Has an overdrive. Now the Fairey overdrive on the series box is pretty useless, they go noisy after 15000 miles at best. Does the RR Fairey suffer the same issues? I have to say the one I saw in use was OK, but was a little noisey. Equally are...

Re: Newby Question: What is wrong with the LT95?

OK, its just that there seems to be quite a bit of chat about 'other' boxes.

Away in thrid you say? Now as I said, I've never driven a Stage one, I will be pulling away in third? Well I can't do that in my 2.5 petrol.... not if I still want a clutch

Torques, I like the sound of that.

Re: The Disc Brake Conversion

Oh, thanks for the quick reply. That rather persists me off, I was hoping it could be done easily. I presently run a breathed on 2.5 petrol and whilst I can assure you, I don't drive liek any boy-racer, if I push on it's a tad too fast for even late S3 spec. brakes. OK, I've not driven one yet, but ...

Newby Question: What is wrong with the LT95?

Now before I came on htsi forum I had it that the LT95 was the best and strongest box ever fitted to a series. Or so I thought... only now I'm here I hear talk of almost nothing else but its shortcomings. It is not entirely clear to a newby what these are. Why are you all wanting to get rid? I've do...

Re: The Disc Brake Conversion

I did see how old this thread is but... Baby steps then please, I'm a newby here ruuning a 109. I'm doing my best to source a Stage one now, I've already bought a bolt-on disc conversion kit, the early Heystee (Chris Perfect supplied) Fiat Ducato/ Santana PS10 kit. Re: I've always secretly hankered for a Stagey

Generally all prices are on teh up. Have you seen in the hands of "Classic' dealers, what a sorted early 70s RR or a decent S2 109 SW goes for these days?!

OK, Get your wallet out.

Thank you. Yes, i've had my eye on that. Schnnice and near me. Nearly misseed it too because it was not listed as a Stage 1
