Stage 1 for sale in USA - California
A guy who owns a shop in town has a Stage 1 sitting in his lot. It's been there for a LONG time. I thought about buying it once, but I love mine and don't really need it. Upon inquiring, it has no VIN on the chassis (rust repair I believe) but it does in the engine bay. I drove it about a year ago a...

Re: Different versions of Fairey Overdrives?
Two comments... First, I know of a Stage One for sale which is a bit of a wreck, but has a nice Fairey OD in it. I've driven the truck and the OD was quiet. Truck has no VIN on the chassis, but does have one on the body. No paperwork. If someone wanted to part it, there's a nice OD and linkage there...

Oil Change - Transfer box/overdrive
Question for those more informed than I... I read somewhere that when topping off or changing oil in the transfer box, one can simply top off the overdrive (if fitted) and that would also top off the transfer. Made sense until I tried it a long time ago. Two things happened: 1. Oil did flow from the...

Re: Newby Question: What is wrong with the LT95?
I have a 2.25L petrol 109 and a Stage 1. I had the 2.25L first and living in Southern California, driving it on the freeway was a necessity. It has a Fairey OD and while it will do 65 or 70 mph, the temp gauge goes up and it's noisy. Then I got the Stage 1. LT95 with OD. It happily cruises at pretty...

Re: Stage 1's on Dakar Rally
Those are awesome photos! I'm a Dakar freak and can never find good shots of Land Rovers in the early Dakars. Great find and great posting. Thanks!

Re: Front Grille needed
Just looked at the e-bay listing for the complete front end. For some reason, when I tried the link before from my phone, it didn't work. Anyway, I sure wish I was local to this. I'd buy it instantly. I need the grille and also am looking for the bonnet spare tire mounting bits. (my bonnet is drille...

Seat question - 5 door
I have a stupid question... Some 5 door stage 1's have the same rear seats (actually middle seats...the row just behind the front seats) as 2.25L trucks, the three separate seats which flip forward. My '83 has one solid rear bench, yet I've seen this in other stage 1 5 doors. Was this optional? Mine...

Re: Front Grille needed
Hello and thanks for the replies... So sorry I've not checked this. Rob, yes, still need a grille. Located one in UK but now can't reach the gentleman. Would really like to find one and it would appear I missed out on one from eBay. I need to stay on top of this forum and I greatly appreciate the re...

Front Grille needed
Anyone want to sell a front grille? I just purchased a Stage 1 and it has the plastic Defender grille on it. I'd like the original wire grille if I can find one. Will pay fair price plus all shipping fees.
Thanks very much!

Re: Any US 109 owners on here?
New Stage 1 owner here... 5 door in Southern California. Just bought her in Utah and drove her home last weekend. A bit of a nightmare, but made it. Lots to do on this but I'm looking forward to having a Series 3 V8. I have a Series 3 109 3 door with the 2.25 petrol engine and now having a V8 should...

Re: How to Tune Stromberg carbs?
Hello, New member here from California. I just bought a Stage 1. 1983 5 door. The truck needs some work and runs terrible at low rpm. I'll set timing first, but I'm certain I have carburetor issues. Is there a step by step tuning manual available anywhere for the Stromberg Zeniths? I've done the &qu...
