Unfortunately due to the current global financial situation the server that these manuals were hosted on is no longer active. Basically, I am broke and had to cancel a few things to stop my bank account looking like the national debt of some small countries. Its not all bad though as someone else ha...

I fitted an electronic dizzy from a later model range rover to mine and then replaced the ignition amplifier on the side with a higher powered one. Ran like a dream.

I will see if I can dig some details out.

Sounds like a great truck but as Larry mentioned check the engine and bulkhead.

If its not been run a lot and not had the oil changed regularly then the top end will be full of black sludge and at 70k+ miles the camshafts tend to be worn.

I fitted SU's to mine. After I fitted them and got them tuned up it ran like a dream. I replaced mine because: a: My strombergs were rather well worn. b: I had a set of SU's kickng around. Now the fact that it ran better may be down to the fact that the SU's were in better condition that the Strombe...

Topic: JATE/Recovery rings - Where to fit?

As far as I am aware most stage 1's came with recover points bolted on to the top of the bumper using the mounting bolts. I have also fitted diy jate rings to a series 3 buy using some spring hangers and a bit of tubing. I found the longest spring hanger bolt I could and then used that to have some ...

Eric,

One thing to be aware of is that 235/75R15 tyres are only 29" in diameter where as standard fitment for a stage 1 is 32". I would imagine you are very under geared but probably have pretty good acceleration!

They call for no less than 16in rims for this. I already have some tire rubbing form the tire I have fitted currently. If I spring for 16 in steel rims and tires I suppose I can sort out a lower profile all terrain tire as well. Eric, What size wheels and tryes are you running on at the moment? 16&...

Eric,

They look like they might work. The main issue with the usuall tubular manifolds is that they are too close to the spring shackles.

Would mean fabricating the rest of the exhaust system I guess!

Eric,

It might be that you need to get an olive and use the old fitting of the sender. Bit like plumbing compression fittings.

Matt,

There has to be a big nut in the middle. If not then its going to come flying off soon!

If you have the flat bolt rather than the starter dog one then it will be very hard to see from above.

The ring of small bolts hold the pulley and damper together.

Dont have a pic of the timing marks I am afraid but beware they are notorious for being wrong. I had another problem with mine, the pointer was missing! I had to buy a new pointer, bolt it to the timing case and then cleaned the front pulley up, scratched the crap out of the marks on it and painted ...

For futire reference there are 2 heights of rotor arm. The one for the electronic dizzy is slightly taller and does exactly as described above. I had the same problem :-( wrong rotor arm trashed a genuine lucas dizzy cap.

A good way of checking the condition of the engine is to have a look inside one of the rocker covers. Take one off if you can or shine a torch down the oil filler. If there is any black sludge then its rebuild time.

Fitting range rover diffs wont make any difference as you already have them! They are 3.54:1 the same as a range rover, standard series 3's are 4.7:1 You can fit higher ratio transfer gears from an early range rover. Disco gears wouldnt fit as they are for a different transferbox. Fitting an overdri...
