My V8 is having similar problems and I am going to do a compression test this afternoon. I think I read somewhere that if you have low compression you can try squirting a dash of oil in to the cylinder and repeating the test. If the compression increases then its the rings/bore. If not its the valve...

gearbox oil
Going to change the oil in the gear box and axles this weekend (christmas doesnt happen in my house its just a longer weekend) and have a couple of gallons of EP90 for the axles but wanted to get a deffinate asnwer on gear and transfer boxes.
So what oil do I need?

I am thinking of getting my stage1 resprayed next year if I can find someone to do it cheaply. It currrently is blue with a mix of white and olive doors.
I was thinking Massai Red or Java green.
Now I know Bumpkin will say Java green but what do the rest of you think?
