Also worth checking the throttle link between the carbs, they are only plastic socket ends, discovered this on mine while the air filter assembly was off. Pulls a lot better now and sounds the part.

As you say those are the most likely suspects, and as i did notice the pressure takes a while to go once he engine has stopped! more investigation required

I have always found Hamerite to be very good, used it on numerous cars an other stuff in the past with good long lasting results.

is it just me, but are stage 1's that thin on the ground that most normal auto factors look at though you got two heads when you ask for something as simple as an oil filter for a 1980 stage one land rover! :x
